It comes down to one thing: whether your aircraft shares its flight data. MAVLink autopilots do — so SkyRelay can serve as a full backup command link. Closed systems don't — so SkyRelay operates as an independent layer alongside the aircraft.
Because a MAVLink autopilot shares its flight data, Link covers both tiers: an Alternate command link (A) — full command and telemetry over LTE when your primary radio fades — plus the complete Emergency layer (E): GPS recovery, an SOS buzzer, and independent flight records.

Track instead serves as an independent Emergency layer (E): GPS coordinates and a loud SOS buzzer to locate the aircraft after a crash, plus insurance-grade flight records — all on its own battery and GPS.
